SETUP


Step 1. Connections


Connect the CMD Studio 4a to a USB port of your computer using the provided USB cable. Connect a pair of amplified speakers to the Master Output at the rear panel of the unit and your Headphones at the front socket.

Step 2. Drivers


Windows : Download and install the Behringer Studio4a ASIO drivers from https://www.behringer.com/Categories/Behringer/Computer-Audio/DJ-Controllers/CMD-STUDIO-4a/p/P0809/Downloads

Mac OSX : No drivers is required to be installed for Mac OSX computers.


Step 3. VirtualDJ


Install VirtualDJ 8 from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/index.html (in case you have not done already)

Start VirtualDJ and login with your Account credentials. A Pro Infinity, Pro Subscription or Plus Behringer CMD Studio 4a Controller License is required.

Detection Window
A detection window will appear when the unit is first connected with VirtualDJ, verifying proper connection

Click on the Use Soundcard button in order VirtualDJ to apply the pre-defined audio configuration using the built-in sound-card of the unit. Speakers need to be connected to the rear panel of the unit in this case.

Click to OK


The unit is now ready to operate with VirtualDJ.

KEY

ACTION

1 CUE
When track is paused, sets a Temporary Cue point and previews the track while pressed. Jumps to the assigned Cue point when track is playing
2 PLAY
Play-pause Left/Right Deck
3 SYNC
Matches Tempo and Phase of the Left/Right Deck with the values of the opposite Deck
4 HOTCUES 1-8
Assign a Hotcue 1 to 8 or jumps to the Hotcue (if assigned) to the Left/Right deck. When DEL button is pressed, the buttons delete the assigned Hotcue
5 DEL
Hold down and then press a Hotcue button to delete its assigned Hotcue
6 PITCH BEND
Temporary slow-down/speed-up track. Tempo will resume to the value designated by the Pitch fader when the button is released
7 PITCH
Adjust the tempo (BPM) of the track
8 LOCK
Lock track's Key and not allow changing when Tempo is changes (Master Tempo)
9 JOG
Touch-sensitive jogwheel for scratch or Bend, depending on the Vinyl/CD mode
10SCRATCH
Sets Jogwheel to Vinyl (Scratch) mode when enabled and to Bend (CD) mode when disabled
11DECK A/C B/D
Selects which VirtualDJ Deck will be controlled from the Left/Right side of the unit. The Left buttons assign Decks 1 and 3 to the left side of the unit, and right buttons assign Decks 2 and 4 to the right side of the unit
12LOOP <
Halves the size of the Loop
13LOOP >
Doubles the size of the Loop
14LOOP
Enables/disables an Auto-Loop of the selected size in beats
15FX 1
Enables/disables the selected Effect
16FX 2
Enables/disables the 1st FX Button (if available) of selected Effect
17FX 3
Enables/disables the 2nd FX Button (if available) of selected Effect
18FX 4
Enables/disables the High/Low-Pass Filter. When disabled, the Filter knob has no effect in sound
19FX KNOB 1
Selects the previous/next available Effect
20FX KNOB 2
Adjusts the 1st Parameter of the selected Effect
21FX KNOB 3
Adjusts the 2nd Parameter of the selected Effect
22FX KNOB 4
Applies a High/Low-Pass Filter
23ENTER
When focus is in Folders list, opens/closes sub-folders.
When focus is in Songs list, adds the selected track to the Automix List.
24BROWSER </>
Set focus to the previous/next Browser window.
25BROWSE
Scrolls through folders or files depending on the selected Browser window.
26LOAD
Loads the selected track from the Browser to the Left/Right Deck
27FX ASSIGN 1/2
Trigger the assigned actions to Custom Buttons 1 and 2
28 HIGH
Adjust the High (Treble) Equalizer Band for the Left/Right assigned decks
29 KILL HIGH
Cuts (Kills) the High (Treble) Equalizer Band for the Left/Right assigned decks
30 MID
Adjust the Middle Equalizer Band for the Left/Right assigned decks
31 KILL MID
Cuts (Kills) the Middle Equalizer Band for the Left/Right assigned decks
32 LOW
Adjust the Low (Bass) Equalizer Band for the Left/Right assigned decks
33 KILL LOW
Cuts (Kills) the Low (Bass) Equalizer Band for the Left/Right assigned decks
34 PHONES
Sends Left/Right assigned deck's audio signal to the Headphones Channel for pre-listening
35 VOLUME
Adjusts the Output Volume of the Left/Right assigned Deck
36CROSSFADER
Blends audio signals from the Decks assigned to the Left and Right side of the crossfader (by default Decks 1 and 3 are assigned to theLeft side and Decks 2 and 4 are assigned to the right side)
37MAIN LEVEL
Adjusts the Volume of the Master Output Channel
